Remember how we had put in an offer on the new house? Well, it was accepted! Yay! So now, all we had to do was wait for the contract to be prepared so we could sign it...or so we thought.
The owner had already told us that he hadn’t been to see a conveyancer yet, so we knew it might take a few days to see a contract. They had agreed to 60 days, and so we reasonably assumed that things would then move fairly swiftly.
However, neither of us anticipated the bureaucratic nightmare that would follow, all because the house had been re-stumped without a permit!
The stress factor was enormous! Our conveyancer said it was too great a risk. We couldn't decide: should we proceed with the purchase? If we did, would we be able to settle in time? How long might we be homeless if we had to look for another house? We went through heaps of Young Living's Stress Away essential oil blend while we tried to work out what to do next.
Eventually we prayed about it, and agreed that if we believed that God had been in our search, he was also in the purchase, and we had to trust that he had it all in hand.
So, anticipating that settlement might be delayed, we put our belongings into storage, arranged for a tow-ball to be attached to our ute, and looked for a caravan so we had somewhere to stay long term if we needed it. Once again, we were aware of God’s hand, as he led us to the perfect caravan for our needs. Our gorgeous little van had only arrived at the dealership 2 hours before us, so we had a few days to wait until it was ready.
We finally got the all clear on the house, just days before settlement was due, and with a delay of only 4 days, the new house was ours! The relief was overwhelming!
And the caravan? It was such a blessing because it allowed us to stay at our new property for a few days until our belongings came out of storage. We are so looking forward to using it to explore more of Australia once we are completely settled!
Watch out for our next post where we settle in and find out about the surprising history of our country home!
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. – Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
